Paste the original source of an email and get a clean sheet you can save as a PDF. Everything happens in this browser tab — nothing is uploaded.

Info

Printing an email straight out of Gmail gives you the Gmail window: sidebar, buttons, the lot. This takes the raw email instead and rebuilds it as a plain document — subject, sender, date, body — so "Save as PDF" produces something you can file, forward or hand to an accountant.

Useful for receipts, order confirmations, booking details and anything you need to keep after the mailbox is cleared out.

How to get the source

  1. Open the email in Gmail.
  2. Menu at the top right of the message → Show original.
  3. On the page that opens, click Copy to clipboard.
  4. Paste it below — it reads itself as soon as you do.

Plain copied email text works too, it just has no subject or date to put in the header.

Good to know

  • The email is parsed here in the browser. It is never sent anywhere, and nothing is stored when you close the tab.
  • Images the sender embedded in the email come along. Images hosted on the sender's server are only loaded in the Original view — switch to Cleaned if you would rather not fetch them.
  • Attachments are listed in the header but not included; the PDF is the message, not the files.
  • The Original view is printed at its screen width and scaled down, so the layout survives instead of reflowing. Fit on one page shrinks it further until the whole email lands on a single sheet.
  • The sheet is editable — click into it and fix anything before you print.
